Books Abound, Inc., is a quaint, independently owned used and new book store in downtown Farmington, right next to the historic Civic Theater. We are located in the northwest suburbs of Detroit, Michigan.

History:

Books Abound opened in 1983 in Royal Oak, Michigan, and moved to Farmington in 1986.

Owners:

Skip Rosenthal, book lover, banjo player, retired head of the library at Henry Ford Community College, Dearborn, and former head of the Livonia public library system.

Alice McCoy, world traveler, storyteller, and retired children’s librarian.

Music:

Customers enjoy the pleasing ambienceskip9.JPG (35381 bytes) of soft recorded music while browsing in the stacks. Banjo played on request by Skip who specializes in popular songs of the 1920’s and 1930’s. Skip also performs before the Friday and Saturday evening movies at the Civic Theatre next door.
